Vietnam Veterans
50th Anniversary
Commemoration
At every live presentation Lt. Col. Pilato presents Vietnam Era Veterans, who are in attendance, a 50th Year Anniversary Lapel Pin. It was recommended by the Department of Defense, approved by congress and launched in 2012 by President Obama. It is meant to acknowledge Vietnam Era Veterans for their commitment and service and to give them an official “Welcome Home.”
The five stated objectives:
• Thank and honor all veterans and their families.
• Highlight all the Armed Forces, organizations and agencies that supported the effort.
• Pay tribute to those who contributed on the home front
• Highlight the advances in technology, medicine and science during
time period.
• Recognize our Allies’ contributions.
If you have a Vietnam veterans group that you would like Colonel Pilato to present the 50 year pins to,
email Angel.
Along with the lapel pin, a proclamation written by Colonel Pilato is read, each veteran is given a certificate with his/her name on it, a folder with information about the symbolism of the pin and the president’s official commemoration.
